“What are the most common dimensions for warehouse line striping layouts?”
We said:
The most common width in any striping project is the walkway. Ordinarily 4 foot is the requirement, this may include the width of the lines, the measurement of ‘line centers’ or excluding the lines from the overall width. See the diagram below:
Line widths are typically 4 inches, so with any layout, this should be a consideration. Ideally pallets should be kept off the lines, therefore all measurements should be to line edges. In some cases this is not cost effective as utilized space converts to money.
Pallet storage lanes and/or staging lanes are typically 44” or 52” line centers. This is based on pallets generally being 40” x 48”. In some cases the facility may operate twin lift fork trucks where two pallets are lifted at the same time. In these facilities the lanes will obviously be twice the size or at least nearly since the center line will not be included, so 88” may become 80” and 104” may be 100”.
Truck routes are dependent on the type of truck and the ability to run trucks in two directions. Some facilities operate one way systems so as to maximize storage space. In addition a pedestrian walkway may be needed, further reducing truck access.
Sorry we can’t provide definitive figures but facility specifics play a big role in the final layouts.
